Why a book devoted to the history of money in black Africa? The current research paradigm affirms that the invention of the notions of money and monetary detalon would be the exclusive panhandle of the Greeks of Asia Minor in the 7th century of the ancient African era. Black Africa, throughout its history (Pharaonic and Imperial periods) would never have gone beyond the primitive stage of barter. If the colonial ideology had not already traced its furrow in the conscience, such an assertion would obviously be perceived as very exaggerated. This book on the real history of money wishes to show you that reality is much more complex and that you should always be wary of gratuitous statements from Western researchers who systematically marginalize all the contributions of the populations of the South. Because it is indeed Black Africa which inaugurated the very first economic-financial lexicon of human history and current modern terms have roots which actually come from very far away. We will not forget imperial Africa which was also relatively rich in financial systems. But it is now our job to bring the first two currencies in history, namely the Shâty and the Dében, out of the dungeons of our memory.
