Marianne and the Black Boy wants to speak from the inside on the experience of black men in the France of our time, in particular on French soil. More broadly, it is on the black presence that the book focuses, in order to explore its particularities in the French space. The contributions are of various kinds, but they are based, for the most part, on the authors' experiences. The project was born out of police violence involving young black men. From the gaze placed on the body, the fantasies aroused by it or other elements, the objective is to make audible a sensitive and political speech, sometimes unexpected, so reductive are the representations transmitted for generations. Marianne's influence spreading beyond her already complex borders - France being a large archipelago - it seemed relevant to me to associate a sub-Saharan voice with this speech. Indeed, the black boy who seeks to wrest his sovereignty from the nets of the criminal enterprise known as Françafrique is also concerned. Moreover, in the globalized environment where social networks abolish borders and distances, the fate of blacks in France does not leave indifferent in sub-Saharan Africa.
