In the kingdom of Babok in Guinea-Bissau and in the communities originating from this territory, who have emigrated to Senegal, personal and community misfortunes are taken care of in a privileged manner by women. Through divinatory and therapeutic rituals during which they sometimes experience modified states of consciousness, they readjust Manjak society to a changing environment, give intelligibility to events and allow the community to face the disturbances of the world.
